2020 has been a trying time for all of us with many cancellations of events, illness to loved ones, quarantine, wearing masks, schools going to online learning, high school sports being canceled, no vacations, safe distancing. The list can go on and on for many of us. One cancelation this year is the Covered Bridge Festival which is normally held in October. Since this event will not be held in 2020, your Alumni Board has decided to cancel the All Class Reunion at the Jackson Building. It was a difficult decision to make, however, wanting alumni to be safe is most important. The All Class Reunion has been ongoing for at least 30 years. Many alumni have attended over the years and Jo Agan has been a mainstay in providing the meal. We look forward to 2021 and a new beginning of reunions for alumni.
A want to do a “shout out” to all Winterset Alumni who are on the front lines during this pandemic: military, first responders, medical personnel, law enforcement, educators, coaches and all others striving to help all of us get back to “normal”. Without your efforts, the situation with Covid-19 would be much worse. Thank you.
WHS Alumni Association renewal postcards have been mailed to over 5,000 alumni. If you have not paid your dues for the year, please do so. Dues collected are dedicated to keeping your association ongoing for many more years. Expenses for the Association include: producing and mailing of the Husky three times per year, the All Class Reunion and other expenses. Also, if you have a classmate not a member, please make an effort to have them join. The WHS Alumni Association has been in existence since bylaws were adopted in 1990 and keeping the Association going until the next century would be awesome.
At our last board meeting, officers were elected for the coming year. They include: Rod Beem, President; Jim Smith, Vice President; Linda Kelly, Secretary; and Connie Miller, Treasurer. Other board members are: RoxAnn Rhoads, Marilee Burk, Marilyn Fairholm, Randy Henry, Paige Henry, Linda Johnson, John LaFratte, Jennifer Stover, Judy Trask and Jim Van Werden. Additional support individuals include Carol Bassett (Husky Editor) and Julie Feirer (Website Manager). If you know or see your board members, remember to thank them for their service to the WHS Alumni.
